Welcome to 2024! Now that 2023 is finally over, the GSC team is reflecting on our favorite art of the past year. It was an interesting year for music in what are undeniably interesting times to say the least. Things somehow only seemed to get more tenuous and more inequitable for artists in 2023 with little hope for any kind of wealth redistribution in sight. In the midst of it all artists new and old were able to breakthrough with career defining hits that had us shaking our asses all year long. Here are the forty-two songs that our team at Grandma Sophia’s Cookies enjoyed the most this year. We have four contributors to the list: our monthly mix generals Nicole and Luke, and our editors Brendan and Josh. They each contributed about ten songs, all of which are presented to you unranked. Each is a personal favorites list that reflect’s the individuals personal taste, though together the playlist does represent the many kinds of music we like to cover at GSC. We chose not to write blurbs for these tracks because we’ll be discussing all of these artists on our 2023 Albums of the Year list which is due out later this week, so be on the lookout for that list and enjoy this playlist in the meantime!
